I dug out the science kits from our year of physics study and said they could pick their favorite to make a display about. They enjoyed digging through for about an hour and each selected a project. Next up? Writing complete sentences!!! Lots of them. Add in a few drawings, some glue and some stapling of folders, box it up, and away we went! They weren't really sure what to expect. Each kiddo presented their project to the group. Mine jumped right in and did their first "public speaking" assignment. They did well considering we hadn't practiced how to present. After the presentations, they got to look around at the projects and visit with the kiddos. On our way out, they both commented how much fun they had had. A great investment of our day, maybe next year, we'll give it more than 1 morning! Now they have seen what could be done, and may be motivated to take a bigger project on.
