A refuge nearby

We are fortunate to live in an area in the midst of beautiful bird refuges. We finally got to go as a family and enjoy a drive. There have been lots of Eagles around this year so we were on the hunt! We took sandwiches and snacks and headed out for an afternoon of family fun and adventure.

First stop, a walk to a bird blind, I like this walkway, anything to keep us out of mud is great to me!

Across the road from stop number one, was a great climbing place, the kids were surprised how big the rocks were when we got up close, they thought we could go all the way up!

Our first bird spotting! We got to drive right by this fellow, we really like these guys!

Ady got a driving lesson.

Caiden also got to have a driving lesson, way to go!

Them are ducks.
My favorite was parking on the side with the windows down listening to the geese singing. They are fun to listen to and watch as they constantly jostle for a different position.

I can't ever resist taking pictures of our Mt. Shasta. The refuge is about 20 miles from our place so it is nice to get a slightly different angle than what we see from home.

A nice day. We thought about heading to another one, but the kids were ready for a snooze, and who can resist that? Another day...
If you weren't a reader when I began this blog, this refuge was one of my very early posts. Enjoy!
