Circus and Senses

The Shriner Circus was in town this week. We got to attend with Marcy and her family. It was Becca's 4th birthday and what better way to celebrate 4 years of life than with a circus and pizza??

The kids went for an elephant ride. Which made their day. They did NOT get to buy the 10 dollar light up sword, which did NOT make their day. We chose to have them spend their own money for treats, which meant they did not have enough for the swords...which worked for me!! I was a little shocked at the price...I realize the circus is a fundraiser, but really? 10 dollars?? for a light up toy that will be forgotten or broken within a couple of days??? AND that uses batteries. really?

The tigers, and jugglers, and rope climbers, and bears, and elephants and clowns were all quite delightful though. I just try not to think about the actual life of these beautiful animals and try to simply enjoy the privilege of being so close to them to see God's awesome creativity.

Pink and Blue Poodles...although it is nearly impossible not to appreciate the hilarity. It also was a bit disturbing. anyone else??

Science this week: more fun with our senses. We made eardrums with plastic bags and metal bowls, and watched salt bounce from the vibration of our loud voices. Caiden made his memorable dinosaur screech and saw lots of salt action.

The mystery box had some fun surprises once they were convinced that there wasn't a snake waiting inside. (thanks daddy) And then ice water, warm water, hot water. 10 seconds in one, switch, and compare how the same water can feel warm and then cold...kind of neat. And finally a 5 senses card sort and then they each made a page for their book. Yay for Friday science day!!

What wonderful photographs you took! Well done. The poodles were Becca's favorites, and yes, it did cross my mind to wonder how sore their little bodies were at the end of these acts of swaggering about on their hind legs. I love the ear drum experiment. Very smart.
