The civil war has always been an intangible subject to me. Growing up in the northwest, we're pretty much limited to civil war movies which are quite dramatic and appropriately battle filled. This was the first time that I have traveled south enough to visit a battlefield, I was totally excited!
I now know that Missouri was a mix of confederate and Union supporters and was the "home" to many battles ( I think the 3rd most). It was very interesting to walk where many had gone before and to learn the sad story of how many fathers, brothers, and young boys died. Very sobering.
