Almost there!

While Terry and his family were here we got lots and lots done on the house. The brothers got the floors ready for carpet. This involved putting screws in the floor to add a bit more strength. (and maybe prevent future squeaks) Then putting floor patch over staple holes, and subfloor seams. Then sweeping and taking construction garbage out by the pickup full, then stashing remaining supplies in places that won't be getting carpet.

Teresa and I varnished cabinets until we were dreaming about it. There are soooo many cabinets, plus baseboards. We didn't quite get through all of them, but we came close.

I even started to unpack a few things, like Christmas/winter dishes, since by the time we get in, it will be perfect timing.

Next came gravel outside, this is our replacement for gutters.

Around here long gutters fill with snow, freeze, then fall off...so, Kevin has put about a foot of gravel on two sides of the house to catch the runoff, prevent a mud pit, and prevent splatter on the house...we shall see how that goes.

After that the brothers went and got big rocks from up behind the place and spent the afternoon placing them on the gravel. I do believe this was their favorite part.

Although there was a LOOONG moment when the backhoe started to tip and I'm pretty sure my heart almost jumped out of my chest. There were no more close calls and the guys became even more cautious than they already are.

My husband is awesome with all the work he's doing. HE ROCKS!!
